My five-month-old Malinois puppy, Alé, used to pull me down the street; it took all the enjoyment out of our walks for me, and likely for her too. I tried everything: training and treating, a collar, two different harnesses and a gentle walker (the latter donated by a couple of guys at the local cafe who had witnessed my misery; Alé chewed through it within a day). I stumbled on the Canny Collar on one of my internet searches. I read the testimonials—all of them and watched a couple of videos. I ordered, expecting to be disappointed. In our first trial, I put it on incorrectly, and Alé managed to slip out of the noseband (she hated it)—remember to pull the noseband through the plastic yellow guider. The second trial, out for a walk, noseband properly in place, was nothing short of remarkable. In next to no time, I had Alé trotting along beside me (behaviour reinforced with copious treats). She still hates the noseband and tries to scuff it on walls and push it off with her paws if the tension slackens (rolling around in the park). But the Canny Collar has transformed our walks from a chore into a pleasure. For that, we're both grateful.
